Everyone is familiar with DC hardcore pioneers Minor Threat and my favorite holier than thou front man Ian MacKaye, but are they familiar with Minor Threat THE HOT SAUCE? Apparently a pickle company from Brooklyn decided to name one of their recipes after one of the most influential and important punk rock bands of all time because the hot sauce has a mild flavor. MILD FLAVOR??? What the fuck??? I guess these food inventor people, Wheel House Pickles, sent Ian MacKaye a bottle to try and this is what he had to say: “I don't have an occasion to eat a lot of hot sauce, but I thought the Minor Threat stuff was nice.” I guess Ian isn't into spicy food and he certainly isn't into companies of any kind using the likenesses of former projects to make a buck. He had won a legal battle with Nike earlier over the use of Minor Threat graphics without his permission and wasn't too thrilled about the graphic that Wheel House was planning to use. The bottle that the sauce entrepeneurs sent him to sample had the image above on the label but Ian wasn't down with that so they were forced to change the label to something far less awesome. You can read the entire article here and even order the darn stuff here if you like. I probobly won't because I like it hot. Anyway, I thought I might kick this blog off with a little Minor Threat. Here is one of the spiciest albums of all time. Nine minutes and twenty seconds of punk rock bliss. Enjoy it with chips.
